Moses - God's friend
A long time ago, an evil king called Pharoah ruled Egypt. He was afraid of the Israelites, God's people, so he made slaves of them and made them work very hard building cities and working in the fields.
Because God loved the Israelites, he helped them grow in to very large families.
Pharoah was afraid the boys would grow up to become soldiers and fight against him, so he did a terrible thing and ordered that all the boy babies be killed.
When Moses was born, his mother loved him and was scared in case Pharoah found him and killed him - so she hid him for 3 months. Then she made a basket of grasses to make a small boat and put him in the Nile river.
The next day, when Pharoah's daughter came down to the river to wash, she found the baby in the basket and realized that he was one of the child her father wanted to kill. She decided to save the baby and keep him as her own.
Moses' mother was very thankful to God for protecting her baby.
When Moses grew up, he found out that he was an Israelite, and was angry that his people were treated as slaves, so he ran away to the land of his people and became a shepherd.
One day while caring for sheep, Moses saw something strange. A bush was on fire, but it didn't burn up.
When he got closer to see what this was, he heard the voice of God.
God spoke to him from the burning bush and told him to go to Egypt and free the people of Israel from slavery.
Moses and his brother Aaron went to tell Pharoah to let all the people of Israel go free, but Pharoah would not listen.
Moses did many amazing miracles with God's power, and terrible things happened to all the people of egypt until Pharoah finally listened and let the people leave.
Moses led all the people out of egypt, and God looked after his people for many years until they came to a new land where they could live.
God did many amazing things to show his people that he loved them and cared for them, and he always talked to Moses as his friend.
