I go to a kid's meeting at Church, does that mean I am a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Christian kids enjoy meeting together, but just going to a meeting will not make you a Christian.

I read my bible sometimes, does that make me a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Christian kids need to read the Bible because it is God's Book and it will teach them how to live their lives in a way that makes God happy, but just reading it does not make you a Christian?

I pray to God sometimes when I am in trouble, does that make me a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Christian kids do spend time praying because they enjoy both talking and listening to God, but just praying does not make you a Christian.

My Mum and Dad are Christians, does that make me a Christian?

No, I am afraid not. Both your Mum and Dad at some point in their lives decided they wanted to become a Christian, but that does not make you a Christian. It is something you must do for yourself.

ok, so what do I need to do to be a Christian?

It is very easy to become a Christian, but you have to be very serious about your decision.

First you must admit that you have done wrong things. The first step is to agree that you have said and done things that are wrong. The Bible calls doing wrong things "sin", and says that every single person in the world sins.

Because God is perfect and never does anything wrong, people who do wrong things cannot live with God in Heaven - be we just found out that every person does wrong things - so how do we fix that?

You will probably know that people who do wrong things need to get punished.

People who steal or kill go to jail.

When you do wrong things at school, sometimes you will get in to trouble. If you do wrong things at home, you might get sent to your room by your Mum or Dad.

That is why God sent Jesus to the earth - to take the punishment for us, for all the wrong things everybody did.

Isn't that amazing?

Imagine if you got in to trouble at school, but someone else took the blame for what you did wrong, and they took the punishment while you got off!

How would you feel towards that person?

I think you would be very happy, and very glad that they did that for you. You would probably want to say thank you to them.

Well that is what Jesus did for you. He took all the punishment for every person that has ever lived, and he was killed and died on a cross for you and me - even though he never did anything wrong himself.

The second step in becoming a Christian is to believe in Jesus, and believe that he took the punishment for your sins - for all the wrong things that you have done and for all the wrong things that you still might do as you get older.

But the story doesn't end there, because Jesus didn't stay dead!

That's right! After only three days, God brought Jesus back to life. God is so powerful, that not even death is stronger than Him!

And because Jesus didn't stay dead, He is still alive even today, and He will never die.

The third step in becoming a Christian is to believe that God brought Jesus back to life again from being dead, and that Jesus is alive today.

ok, I have read all that and I am serious about wanting to be a Christian - so what next?

Pray this prayer together with us, read it slowly, and make sure you agree with it and mean everything it says:

Dear God.
I am sorry for all the wrong things that I have said or done.
Please forgive me.
Thank you Jesus that you loved me so much that you took the punishment for the wrong things that I did, even though you never did anything wrong yourself.
Thank you for dying for me, so that I could be forgiven.
Please teach me how to live a life that pleases you.

Yes! God heard your prayer, and He knows if you really meant it.

That doesnt mean you will never do any more wrong things, or you wont ever get in to trouble at school or from your Mum and Dad, but it does mean that every time you do a wrong thing, you can pray to God and say you are sorry, and God will forgive you, and you will stay very close to Him.
